Energy Balls
30th January 2021
Energy Balls- Makes about 10 bitesize balls
Ingredients
80g Oats
130g smooth peanut butter
80ml honey
45g chopped dark chocolate
2 Tablespoons Flaxseed
2 Tablespoons of Chia seeds
1 Tablespoon chocolate flavoured Protein Powder (preferably natural source protein)
Method
- Stir everything together in a bowl or use a food processsor and give it a little blitz. Pop in the fridge for 30mins.
- Roll a little in your palm to make a ball. Repeat.
- Store in the fridge. Should keep for at least 3 days (if you haven’t eaten them all by then!)
Alternatives; Use no protein powder, instead use cocoa or cacao powder for chocolate flavour. Use chopped nuts and dates instead of peanut butter. Use coconut oil or almond butter instead of peanut butter. Use maple or agave syrup instead of honey. Basically play about with what you have available- the key is to balance the wet and dry ingredients so add a little of each until the mixture is perfect!
Some potential health benefits (not exhaustive);
- Oats = protein and fibre
- Nut butter = good fats
- Honey = antioxidants, better sugar source
- Dark Chocolate = antioxidants
- Seeds = protein and fibre
- Protein powder = appetite control
Enjoy!
